Beginning a Journey
Posted by madamlight on July 23, 2007
Every accomplishment starts with a simple first step and today, I have taken mine. I do not know if I will arrive at my destination, but I do know I have to try.
I am currently 38 years old and per the new Tanita InnerScan Scale I just purchased I am in terrible shape. Not that I didn’t know that already, but now it is in my face and hopefully playing a motivational part in my progress.
I have never been a skinny mini, but I was a healthy size and shape. In 2002 I quit smoking and nine months later on my wedding day, I had gained 30 lbs. I went to the doctor, pleading my case. I needed help and I was admitting it. This was a big step for me. Instead of being an advocate to my cause, I felt my MALE doctor brushed me off when he said “you are getting older this is normal.”
I don’t know about you, but I know quite a few older people and there are plenty that are not overweight. I was depressed then and I still am now. This weight is playing havoc on my body, my health, and my mind. I also shared my depression with the doctor – nothing worth saying was responded. I am currently looking for a female doctor that will listen to what I say and aid me in my weight loss and healthy future.
Today, almost brought tears to my eyes as I stepped on to my Tanita Scale for the first time. After entering my Age, Height and Activity Level I was ready for my first view. Here is where I am:
- Weight: 183.2
- Fat %: 36.1
- Water %: 45.7
- Bone Mass: 6 lb
- DCI (Daily Calorie Intake): 2637 calories needed to maintain weight
- Metabolic Age: 50
Oh my……no wonder I feel so crappy all the time. I am really 12 years older than my real age.
This blog is where I will document everything regarding my health and physique. May there be some time in the future when I can read this first post and declare – I did it I am Light On My Feet!
